Ten Questions That Expose the Cracks in Mormonism’s Foundation

It’s one thing to have religious differences—it’s another to stake your soul on teachings that contradict the very Word of God. As someone deeply committed to biblical Christianity, I believe it’s time we stop tiptoeing around the hard questions when it comes to the claims of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Behind the clean-cut missionaries and wholesome family image lies a theology that diverges from the gospel of Jesus Christ in dangerous, damning ways.

Here are ten questions every Mormon—and every Christian being courted by Mormon doctrine—should confront honestly and biblically:

1. If Scripture warns not to add to God’s Word (Revelation 22:18–19), why did Joseph Smith claim new scripture like the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price?
God’s Word is sufficient. Yet Mormonism builds its entire theology on revelations given over a thousand years after Christ. That’s not restoration—that’s reinvention.

2. Jesus said God is spirit (John 4:24). Paul called Him invisible (1 Timothy 1:17). So how can God the Father have a body of flesh and bones as LDS doctrine teaches (D&C 130:22)?
Mormonism’s view of God is not only unbiblical—it’s blasphemous. The God of the Bible is not a glorified man. He is eternal, omnipresent Spirit.

3. Why does the Book of Mormon contain entire sections from the 1769 King James Bible—including its translation errors—if it was supposedly written over a millennium earlier?
2 Nephi 12–24 mirrors Isaiah in the KJV almost word-for-word. How could ancient American prophets quote a 17th-century English translation—complete with its italicized words?

4. Joseph Smith made multiple failed prophecies—like Jesus returning before 1891 (History of the Church 2:182). The Bible says one false prophecy disqualifies a prophet (Deuteronomy 18:20–22). So why trust him?
Even one failed prediction is enough to mark a man as a false prophet. Smith’s record speaks for itself.

5. Why did Mormon leaders teach that Black people were cursed and deny them the priesthood until 1978, if God shows no favoritism (Acts 10:34)?
The racist foundations of LDS theology cannot be whitewashed. 2 Nephi 5:21 teaches that God cursed people with dark skin. That’s not God’s Word—it’s man’s prejudice.

6. If salvation is “by grace through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9), why does Mormonism teach that salvation depends on works, ordinances, and temple rites?
This isn’t a matter of semantics—it’s the heart of the gospel. Mormonism teaches a different gospel—one that enslaves rather than frees.

7. Jesus said there is no marriage in the resurrection (Mark 12:25). Why, then, does LDS doctrine insist celestial marriage is required for exaltation?
You can’t claim to follow Christ while rejecting His clear teaching. There are no eternal marriages in heaven—only eternal fellowship with God.

8. If the Book of Mormon is the “most correct book on earth,” why doesn’t it teach core LDS doctrines like eternal marriage, temple work, or godhood?
The book Joseph Smith claimed to translate by the gift and power of God omits everything that makes Mormonism unique. That’s not divine oversight—it’s doctrinal invention.

9. Why has Mormon doctrine changed over time—on polygamy, race, and temple ceremonies—when Scripture says God never changes (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8)?
Truth doesn’t evolve with culture. God didn’t change His mind about slavery, race, or plural marriage. Mormonism did.

10. If the Aaronic priesthood ended with Christ (Hebrews 7:11–12), how can modern Mormons claim to hold it? And without Levitical descent?
Only Levites could be priests. And Jesus is our final High Priest. The Mormon priesthood is manmade and obsolete.

In the end, these aren’t gotcha questions. They’re lifelines. Because eternity is not something we gamble with. The truth is that Mormonism preaches “another gospel”—and Scripture has strong words for that: “Let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:9, NKJV).

If you’re a Mormon reading this, know that I’m not attacking you—I’m warning you. Jesus Christ is enough. You don’t need temples, prophets, or secret rituals. You need faith in the true Jesus of the Bible, the one who saves by grace alone.

It’s time to stop covering false doctrine with polite silence. The gospel is too precious, and souls are too valuable, to let this go unchallenged.
